The terms

  • DossierForge is sold to businesses. All prices exclude VAT. There are no delivery or transaction costs: the product is a download. You pay per product, so a maker with three products pays for three.
  • A product is anything that needs its own CRA technical file. If you can defend one technical file covering your variants to a market surveillance authority, that is one product. A variant that needs its own file is its own product.
  • Products two to ten cost less than the first: each further Dossier is EUR 299 again and each further product on Maintain is EUR 690 a year or EUR 69 a month. Three products on annual Maintain is EUR 2.370 a year. Checkout covers ten products, so above ten we agree a rate on an annual invoice.
  • Buy a Dossier and move to an annual Maintain plan within 30 days and the EUR 299 comes off that first year.
  • See the first pages of your own dossier in the free preview before you buy. If you did buy and it did not produce a usable dossier for your product, write to us and we fix it or refund it. That is goodwill rather than a term. It is separate from your statutory rights, which are set out on the legal page.
  • If we refund a purchase, that licence stops working the next time the app reaches our licence service.
  • Windows and Linux at launch. macOS is planned.
  • Your licence key arrives by email after payment. Paste it into DossierForge to activate your licence.
  • DossierForge is in private beta. Checkout is not open yet.

The Commission's own cost estimate

The European Commission's impact assessment accompanying the proposal, SWD(2022) 282 final, prices the obligations per product: technical documentation, conformity and reporting exploited vulnerabilities and incidents to ENISA. It puts that line item at about 9% of an assumed EUR 140.000 average product development cost, so roughly EUR 12.600 per product.

The assessment says of that 9% figure that it "could however not be verified", so treat it as the Commission's estimate rather than as an established cost. The annual plan costs 8% to 12% of that estimate.

When a licence expires

Your saved PDF and Word files stay on your disk. You can open and edit them without DossierForge.

A Dossier purchase does not expire. You can keep drafting new documents and copying the ones you already generated.

If you never bought a Dossier, the app falls back to the free preview for one product. New output contains watermarked first pages and no Word file.

Licensing questions

Can my own reviewer use the output?

Yes. Your reviewer can read and edit the PDF and Word files without DossierForge. Legal references appear under the section headings.

Can I still generate a final dossier on the rules I bought?

Generating a new final dossier needs rules that are still current. A copy of a document you already generated keeps its original date. A Maintain subscription keeps your rules current.
